World’s First Dual-Chamber Leadless Pacemaker

Abbott AVEIR™ DR: World’s First Dual-Chamber Leadless Pacemaker

The Abbott AVEIR™ DR is the world’s first dual-chamber leadless pacemaker designed to treat abnormal heart rhythms using two miniature devices implanted directly inside the heart — one in the right atrium and one in the right ventricle. Unlike traditional pacemakers, this innovative system works without wires, chest pockets, or surgical incisions.

How AVEIR™ DR Works

The system includes two small catheter-delivered devices:

AVEIR AR – placed in the right atrium

AVEIR VR – placed in the right ventricle

Using advanced implant-to-implant (i2i) wireless communication, both devices coordinate on a beat-to-beat basis to maintain natural heart rhythm and support dual-chamber pacing modes.

Key Benefits

 No Surgical Pocket: Eliminates risks associated with chest incisions and generator pockets.

 No Leads: Reduces lead-related complications such as breakage or infection

 Minimally Invasive: Faster recovery with fewer physical restrictions

Improved Patient Comfort: No visible device bulge under the skin

 Long-Term Solution: Designed for durab,ility with retrievable and replaceable technology

Effectiveness & Safety

Clinical studies show high implantation success rates (around 99%) with strong performance and safety observed through at least one year of follow-up.

Who Can Benefit?

Dual-chamber leadless pacemakers are suitable for patients with conditions requiring coordinated pacing between both chambers, including:

* AV block

* Symptomatic bradycardia

* Certain conduction system disorders

It is particularly beneficial for patients at higher risk of infection or those unsuitable for traditional pacemaker leads.

 A Major Advancement in Cardiac Pacing

The AVEIR™ DR represents a major step forward in heart rhythm management by delivering effective dual-chamber pacing without the limitations of conventional pacemakers, improving safety, recovery, and overall quality of life.
