Kauvery Hospital (Alwarpet) Performs India's First Case of Intracardiac Echo Guided Lambre Left Atrial Appendage Conclusion
Left atrial appendage closure is a surgical or minimally invasive procedure to close the left atrial appendage (LAA), a small sac in the muscle wall of the left atrium. Removing it or closing it off can reduce the risk of stroke and eliminate the need to take blood-thinning medication. Because the left atrial appendage is a little pouch, blood collects there and can form clots in the LAA and atria.
Chennai: Man aged 80, with atrial fibrillation, was treated with intracardiac echo-guided LA appendage closure. A teenager was also treated for ventricular tachycardia, which originated from the heart’s summit, using the same technology. Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet Chennai, a leading multi-specialty healthcare chain in Tamil Nadu, performed India’s first Intracardiac Echo-Guided Lambre Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) closure.
