Transforming Cardiac Care: India’s TAVR Centre of Excellence

TAVR Centre of Excellence

The landscape of cardiac care is rapidly evolving, and at the forefront of this transformation is Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)—a minimally invasive procedure that is redefining how we treat aortic valve disease. In India, where cardiovascular conditions are on the rise, TAVR offers new hope to patients who are considered high-risk for traditional open-heart surgery. I am proud to be part of this evolution and contribute to what is now recognized as India’s TAVR Centre of Excellence.

What is TAVR?

TAVR is a breakthrough procedure that replaces a diseased aortic valve without the need for open-heart surgery. It involves guiding a bioprosthetic valve through a catheter inserted via the femoral artery and positioning it within the faulty valve. The new valve then takes over the job of regulating blood flow, dramatically improving quality of life for patients with severe aortic stenosis.

Benefits of TAVR Over Traditional Surgery:

  • Minimally invasive: No need for opening the chest

  • Faster recovery: Patients often walk within a day

  • Reduced hospital stay: Typically discharged within 2-3 days

  • Ideal for high-risk patients: Especially those unfit for surgery

A Vision for World-Class Care in India

Our TAVR program has been designed to bring the highest global standards to India. With a multidisciplinary heart team, cutting-edge imaging and catheterization labs, and individualized care protocols, we ensure patient safety, optimal outcomes, and compassionate care at every step.

At the TAVR Centre of Excellence, we focus not only on performing the procedure but also on post-operative rehabilitation and long-term management. Every patient’s journey is mapped out with precision and care.

Who Can Benefit from TAVR?

TAVR is most suitable for:

  • Elderly patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis

  • Patients deemed high-risk or inoperable for traditional surgery

  • Individuals with comorbidities such as kidney disease, lung conditions, or previous cardiac surgeries

Each patient is evaluated comprehensively to determine if TAVR is the right option. Our team collaborates with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, and imaging specialists to make informed, patient-first decisions.

Advancing Cardiac Innovation and Access

India has long needed access to such cutting-edge solutions, and our Centre of Excellence aims to lead that charge—not just by performing procedures, but by training the next generation of cardiac specialists. We are committed to:

  • Continuous medical education and workshops

  • Collaborative research on outcomes and advancements in valve technology

  • Awareness programs to educate both patients and healthcare providers

Real Stories, Real Transformations

We’ve had the privilege of seeing lives transformed—elderly patients once breathless and bed-bound now enjoying their daily walks again, celebrating milestones with their families, and reclaiming their independence.

Looking Ahead

As the field of interventional cardiology advances, TAVR will play an increasingly central role in managing structural heart diseases. At our Centre of Excellence, we are driven by the vision of making world-class, minimally invasive cardiac care accessible to every Indian who needs it.

We invite patients, caregivers, and fellow medical professionals to join us in this journey of innovation and healing.
